Product Description
IQAir Air Purifier for Safe Amalgam Removal
The IQAir Cleanroom HG FlexVac is the ideal Air Purifier for Safe Amalgam Removal. The unit is specifically developed to protect patients and dental staff from the exposure of mercury vapours and other toxins during the removal of amalgam fillings.
Combining the IQAir high-performance air purifier with the IQAir FlexVac ‘s source capture kit forms part of The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology’s recommendation to adhere to their IAOMT SMART protocol standard for amalgam removal. Allowing dentists to obtain SMART certification.
The Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique
As stipulated: During amalgam filling removal, the dentist must utilize an at source oral aerosol vacuum in close proximity to the operating field (i.e., two to four inches from the patient’s mouth) to mitigate mercury exposure 45, 88.

High-Efficiency Air Cleaning
IQAir has provided effective solutions for capturing microorganisms and chemical substances for over 30 years. The Swiss-made systems excel in filtering chemical pollutants and microbiological aerosols commonly found in dental settings.
Proven Effectiveness
A study published in the British Dental Journal verified the effectiveness of IQAir systems, concluding that the IQAir air cleaning system with FlexVac significantly reduces bioaerosol load during dental procedures. The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) also recommends the IQAir air cleaner with FlexVac for optimal protection when removing mercury amalgam fillings. IAOMT approval document.

Filtration Technology
Powerful Certified Performance
Each IQAir Cleanroom Hg system is individually tested and certified, guaranteeing a minimum total system efficiency of 99.95% for airborne particles ≥ 0.3 µm and a maximum air delivery rate of 400 m³/h. IQAir systems utilize 100% ozone- and ion-free filtration technologies.
- Cleanroom Hg Filter: Contains 2.5 kg of special granulated filter media for effective mercury vapour filtration.
Individually Tested and Certified
Every IQAir Air Purifier for Safe Amalgam Removal is individually tested in Switzerland to ensure a minimum filtration efficiency of 99.95% for airborne particles ≥ 0.3 µm. The unit effectively removes dental amalgam vapours and infectious droplets at the point of origin during procedures. Multiple scientific studies and independent test reports support the system's effectiveness.
The IQAir Air Purifier for Safe Amalgam Removal is designed for continuous operation, ensuring non-stop protection.
Mercury vapour can be released during the placement and removal of dental amalgam fillings. As mercury is odourless and transforms to gas at room temperature, exposure can often go unnoticed.
Effective Source-Capture Technology
The IQAir Air Purifier for Safe Amalgam Removal captures mercury vapour and drills aerosols at the source. The flexible suction duct removes harmful contaminants before they can be inhaled or dispersed in the ambient air. This filtration technology's ability to reduce room levels of mercury and particulates has been documented in a research report by the Institute of Hygiene at the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
